David Clark creates net.art projects which have played at Sundance, SIGGRAPH, Transmediale Berlin and the Museum of Moving Images in New York. His web project A is for Apple won the top prize at the 2003 SXSW in Austin, Texas and the FILE2002 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is currently Associate Professor in Intermedia at NSCAD, Halifax, Canada.
During his DAS residency David is researching an interactive digital opera entitled “The End: A Digital Opera in Seven Colours”. A broad contemplation of the transition from our human to the post-human era, the work will look at the mystery of Alan Turing’s suicide, touch on Freud’s idea of the fetish in Psychoanalysis, probe the dark cult of personality behind Jim Morrison and visit the realm of the fantastical and allegorical in The Wizard of Oz.

David Clark Artist Masterclass

David Clark will be hosting a special one-day workshop introducing 3D imaging software. This intensive course will be of particular interest to visual artists seeking to learn key software applications for creating net.art and and motion graphics. Participants will focus on Unity, a 3D games platform used in creating iPhone Apps and Sketch-Up, a CAD application used in Google Earth. Both software packages are available in free downloadable versions. It is advised that participants have some prior basic computer knowledge, ideally using the Mac platform.
