DAS at the Belfast Film Festival

|| DAS have teamed up with the Belfast Film Festival to present a selection of stimulating participatory new media events. We’re hosting Cinemasports, collaborating with Dublin’s Darklight Festival to screen and discuss new Irish animation, presenting a compendium of contemporary Indian Animation and co-hosting the Ninth World Belfast Pong Championship.

digital photography & photoshop – Friday 9th April

A special Professional Development Training Workshop in association with Visual Artists Ireland, Belfast Exposed and Community Arts Forum

with Joanna Karolini

This workshop will engage professional and emerging artists to document their artwork using digital photography and Photoshop. Attention will be given to traditional studio photography and darkroom techniques adapted to the methods used in present digital photographic practice.

Presentations by Sinéad Breathnach-Cashell, Acitore Artizone and Tara Mullan

Acitore is a multi-media artist and member of Creative Exchange artist studio group. Sinéad’s practice includes playful public interventions and the curation of a residency programme in association with SHAC housing. Tara won the BA Award Residency which DAS co-facilitates with the University of Ulster.

All DAS talks are free and open to the public.

International Resident Artist Talk

February 24th, 2010

International Resident Michelle Woulahan (aka Antoinette J. Citizen) is a self-confessed Science Fiction addict whose interest in making art lies primarily in the amalgamation of the fictional and the real. Woulahans work references science and technological-based fictions with the utilisation of concepts, ideas and visual modes generated from film, online and gaming cultures. These fictional concepts are explored through the use of video, sound, digital effects, electronics, sensors and computer programming platforms.
