Aleena Akbar Khan (b. 1999) is a visual artist based in Pakistan, predominantly working in drawing, installation and digital media.
In her practice, Aleena is interested in studying a multitude of experiences. She works with Artificial intelligence because it is a multitude of human experiences in one. A lot of interpretations are fed into a neural network, of what anything is. Aleena studies and translates these interpretations into sculpture and installation, using material sourced from her immediate surroundings.
Aleena will utilise the DAS residency to explore how the machine sees our world. What does the 3-dimensional form mean to a machine. whose lens is 2 dimensional.
She plans on creating work that explores translation from digital medium to physical mediums.
Aleena received her BFA in fine arts, majoring in painting from NCA rawalpindi in 2022. Previously, she has had group shows at PNCA rawalpindi, Alhamra Art gallery Lahore, Storia art studio, Faisalabad in years 2017, 2019 and 2020. She was also a part of 1st international Mowna biennial in 2020.
