Cherith Brown works mainly with video and her recent work deals with her old high school building just weeks before it was demolished. The work highlights the dialectic process between the persona of the student and that of the artist, particularly the problem of dealing with memory without the seepage of nostalgia and sentimentalism. She is interested in the formal qualities and peculiarities of the mundane. Recently her work was screened in the QFT as part of 'Contemporary Art and the Moving Image: 2' programme. She is currently studying for her MA in Film and Visual Studies at Queens University, Belfast.
