David Clark is a media artist interested in experimental narrative form and the cinematic use of the internet. He has produced work for the internet, narrative films, and gallery installations.
During his period at DAS David worked on 'Sign after the X', an interactive artwork for the Web in collaboration with Marina Roy and Graham Meisner. The encyclopedic interactive website revolves around the letter X and its multiple meanings in our culture.
The work examines how the letter X became part of Western languages and how it has been used as a cipher for otherness and the unknown. As a survey of meanings and histories, it looks at how the letter X has influenced the realms of law, psychoanalysis, medicine, technology, geography, and linguistics.
