Elin Johnston

Artist Intro

Elin Johnston is a Belfast based award-winning contemporary Artist/Maker in artistic practice for ten years. Her work has been exhibited in London, Dublin, and throughout N.Ireland and has been acquired for the collections of the Arts Council NI, and Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.

Elin holds a BA(Hons) 3D Design and a MA (Industrial Design) and has an extensive previous UK background as an independent Design / Creative Director with projects implemented worldwide including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Melbourne, & Toronto. She also has considerable former experience in higher level Design Education, lecturing at a wide range of Art & Design Faculties in England and Wales.

Her practice is interdisciplinary in basis, working across a range of scale of 3D Sculptural / Assemblage works combining digital processes with traditional technique, and is currently undergoing an accelerated programme of diversification to include larger scale installation works including Moving & 2D Digital Imaging, SoundScape & Augmented Reality.

At DAS, Elin intends to develop a new site-specific body of work aimed at interpreting, honouring, and making visible the interwoven resonances of shared industrial and social heritage, investigating time, memory, and place. Embracing a collaborative approach, she aims to bring together an amalgam of creative voices and emerging digital technologies aimed at a variety of public outcome activities including exhibitions/installations, screenings, & digital dissemination.

Elin pursues an active involvement in arts engagement & development with professional, educational, & public audiences aimed at creating and enriching awareness, & appreciation of the value of contemporary Visual Arts including ‘Meet The Artist’ talks & educational workshops.
