My practice encompasses painting, sculpture, installation, photography and work of a site-specific nature, and tends to centre around politics of space and place. I am interested in how we negotiate physical, psychological, social and political landscapes, both individually and collectively, and draw on personal and cultural experiences to explore this. I seek to evoke an aesthetic experience in the viewer, and am interested in how the relationship between viewer and artwork shifts and develops beyond the context of the gallery. Having studied sculpture, a fixation on the object remains central, in particular the possibilities for the object to facilitate an aesthetic experience, or more recently, its capacity to provide a re-evaluation of accepted ideas pertaining to history or experience.
