There is a loaded silence to most of my video works, leaving the dialogue to the images, a dialogue often taking place between human and nature, using the landscape as an identity or attitude. In my installations I often use the media of text or fragments of text.
Text belongs to the everyday well known in our society of fast, almost automatic, readers and I am intrigued by the voices in our heads, pronouncing the thoughts of the artist or poet. I like to think that using text in art is about adding sound to the work trough the viewers own inner voice.
During this residency I will be experimenting with breaking silence, focusing on different layers of sound, building a consistent work based in the written word spoken out loud, looking for rhythms in language and nature, adding poetry to moving image.
