We are delighted to announce the addition of an Annual Review to our programme for 2018-19. Digital Arts Studios will be presenting its inaugural Annual Review in March 2019 at the Golden Thread Gallery’s Project Space, giving DAS Home Residents the exciting opportunity to exhibit in one of Belfast’s foremost contemporary art galleries.
Investigating the divergence of art and technology, digital culture has almost limitless potential for exploration, innovation and re-presentation. DAS’ primary mission is to support artists in the engagement, expansion, experimentation and expression of ideas through digital art. We welcome proposals from artists from any background who engage with digital technologies to push the boundaries of their own practice and indeed, to a certain extent, the cultural world around us.
The Annual Review will showcase a body of work by artists who have participated in the Home Residency between February 2018 and January 2019. Work produced by artists resident at DAS during this period will be eligible for selection by the independent curatorial panel.
In conjunction with the exhibition, an essay by DAS Manager Angela Halliday and a round table discussion will provide insight into the processes and technologies involved in the artists’ works as well as situating the work within the wider visual art context.
