Digital Arts Studios is commissioning a new work for Culture Night 2016, which takes place on Friday the 16th of September.
Since moving to the Cathedral Quarter in 2012, DAS has contributed to Culture Night with installations in the foyer of our premises in Hill Street. This year we are calling for installation proposals from artists and creatives working with any media. With at least 30,000 people attending Culture Night each year, it is an excellent opportunity to show your work to a wider audience and to create something experimental in a challenging space!
Proposals should respond to the architecture of the foyer space of DAS i.e. factor in the height and depth of the space, the glass front doors, the stairwell etc. Proposals should use the space in an imaginative way to install a work that will be viewable/audible from Hill Street/Gordon Street. There will be no access for the public to the studios and the doors of the premises will remain closed on Culture Night, so the installation can only be experienced from the street.
We will provide an artist's fee of £300 and a materials budget. We are open to bold and innovative suggestions! The winning artist’s work will be installed at DAS and unveiled on Culture Night 2016. Artists are welcome to make an appointment to visit DAS to see the foyer space. Proposals should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight on Friday 12th August 2016 and should include a list of any equipment or materials that you will need for your proposed installation as well as an expected budget. Please telephone DAS on 02890 312900 if you have any queries.
