The DAS residency programme encourages and supports artists in the creation of innovative, challenging and experimental work by providing a creative hub with access to a range of facilities and resources. The residency programme is of significant benefit to the artists who take part. When asked in a recent survey of past artists in residence, if a DAS residency had advanced their artistic career, 91% answered yes.
Testimonials from previous artists in residence:
Access to state of the art equipment and workshops delivered by excellent professionals developed my confidence as an artist and up skilling is always great to improve and open ideas in developing my work, which continues to grow from my experience with DAS.
I'm able to use digital skills learnt during the residency in my paid employment as well as having high quality documentation of a solo show due to equipment loan and editing time during my residency.
I created new work that took my practice in another direction and I was able to secure arts funding.
The residency offers one artist 2 months in the DAS studios, a monthly stipend and shared accommodation in Belfast. The next International Residency period is October and November 2017 inclusive. The successful artist will have the opportunity to deliver a public talk at partner venue The Golden Thread Gallery during their residency period. Deadline: 6th August 2017 (midnight).
The Home Residency period is October 2017 to January 2018 inclusive. The Home Residency offers artists four months to work on a specific project of their choice, developing skills and artistic practice, with DAS providing the support to showcase that new work. Deadline: 13th August 2017 (midnight).
Guidelines and more information on both residency programmes are available on the Residencies page.
