Samar Nezamabad

Samar Nezamabad (b. 1999) is a Belfast & Limerick-based artist and curator exploring time, memory, and grief through experimental analogue photography and installation.

She is Co-Director and Chairperson at Catalyst Arts and a Fine Art Painting graduate from Limerick School of Art & Design. Recent exhibitions include ‘Daisy, Daisy’ (The Complex, 2024) and ‘ORIGINS’ (Lismore Castle Arts, 2023). Curatorial projects include ‘From Dust’ (Platform Arts, 2025). She is supported by the Freelands Foundation Artist Bursary from a-n The Artists Information Company

Her work Phantasm reflects on losing her mother, portraying a home that feels both alive with memory and hollow with absence. Using expired film, she captures the physical remnants of grief, drawing from gothic influences to contrast the house’s decay with her own emotional landscape.
