Our Support Hub is a new provision for artists, arts organisations or groups to gain expert technical help, advice and training.

The aim of this support provision is to assist you in the development of your skills to create new digital work, to gain specific technical knowledge or simply point you in the right direction. You can book an initial free consultation with us to discuss the type of support you require and what it might involve. We can discuss the type of support you need and plan the required sessions. Support Hub Testimonials

I’m a local mural artist, I trained back in 2001 when there was less emphasis on digital skills.

Over the past couple of years however I felt the need more and more to provide my clients with digital drawings and mock ups of walls. I had no clue about Procreate even though I had it, the Apple Pencil and iPad Pro. I just had no notion of how to navigate my way around it.

I embarked on 6 sessions learning Procreate with Richard (DAS Technician). I have to say I’m able to use Procreate easily and I’m using it every day now. I have a much more professional edge to my client consultations and I know my clients have a lot more faith in me and what I aim to produce.

Richard is a joy to work with, with a heap of patience and a lot of knowledge.
— CARLA HODGSON - ARTIST
Richard from DAS was able to work with one of our artists in an assisted studio trial that has portfolios of work but really wanted to see his work animated.

He was able to access with us his ability to work alongside and or unaided and produced in a short space of time some animated clips. The artist has some communication difficulties and Richard with his gentle manor was able to work with him to produce quality work for an exhibition.

It needed someone with a good grasp of different types of software in order to achieve those results in such a short space of time.
— BRONAGH LAWSON, MAKER MALL
I have been working on a large scale artwork transposing Beethoven’s 9th symphony into an embodied performance. It has had many iterations this far - including multiple live performances with Deaf and Sign Language users. One of the iterations of this body of work was a video shot on location at the Crawford Art Gallery, Cork during a live performance.

DAS was essential to the making of this work. Their expertise and equipment was critical for me, without which I would have been unable to produce this work. In particular Richard Davis’s assistance with the edit, both for moving image and sound. I cannot tell you how valuable the resources and expertise of DAS is on an ongoing basis to support, develop and empower artists to make work and represent their work in the digital sphere.

This work has since been exhibited at the Homo Novous festival, Riga, Latvia and at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin and due for many further exhibitions including the Bangkok Biennale.

Without DAS support I would not have had as much confidence in the quality of the work and these exhibition opportunities would have been lost. A million thanks to them and their finders for this invaluable support to contemporary art making and my practice particularly.

Digital Arts Studio, and the job specific training they have been delivering to our staff, has been a key component of the development of our newest member to the arts team, our Assistant Digital Content Officer. A well established, dedicated, long term contributor to the creative sector in Belfast, the work of Digital Arts Studio it is fair to say, is at the forefront of many creative sector organisations’ developmental growth into the digital audience market.

Many arts sector organisations have had to unexpectedly embrace and adapt to the online shift and demand for digital content, and what is needed is digital content of a high quality, professional standard, given this competitive arena.

In our experience to date, the Digital Arts Studio, are well placed to support and educate organisations developing programming within this part of the creative sector, providing transferrable, teachable skills along with a reliable support network beyond the life of training and the one-to-one hub engagement.
