Exploring Ambisonics and Immersive Audio
Ambisonic audio is an innovative and expanding field that offers unique opportunities across various artistic disciplines, and can add depth and spatial dimension to your projects.
In this workshop, we'll explore:
Definitions and ambisonic formats
Creative possibilities with immersive audio
Recording techniques with ambisonic microphones and alternative surround sound setups
Editing and working with ambisonic recordings
Integrating ambisonic plugins into your workflow
Aidan will demonstrate how he incorporates ambisonics into his creative practice, with a focus on field recording and soundscape composition.
Participants will also have the opportunity to listen to ambisonic recordings, experiment with the tools, and consider how to integrate these techniques into their own practice.
Please note: Participants are asked to bring their own laptop. Alternatively email DAS before booking if you need access to a computer to participate in the workshop.

Facilitator Bio:
Aidan Deery is a Belfast-based composer, sound artist and video artist originally from Co.Armagh. Aidan’s work explores soundscapes, the practice of listening, and is motivated by the communicative potential of the sonic environment. This has resulted in various approaches to soundscape composition, including fixed-medium electroacoustic compositions, installations, and works for solo instrument with electronics, as well as collaborative work with sound and visual artists.Aidan has released work extensively as one half of field recording duo ‘bunú’.
